FALLDANCE - VOLUNTEERING - PROJECTS

Here is a list of the SCDC Fall Dance projects and major tasks that need to get done.
If you have specific interests, skills or resources you wish to offer SCDC,
please let us know what they are. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Everyone appreciates your desire to be involved and make it happen.

Flyer:
design, layout and printing of publicity/registration flyer (requires access to a computer, high quality printer and desktop publishing and graphics skills).

Publicity:
research advertising; create and place listings/ads; coordinate posting of flyers at various locations.

Orientation Packet:
design, layout and printing of event orientation packet/program (requires access to a computer and high quality printer plus desktop publishing skills.

Phone registration:
receive phone calls about registration; answer questions and quote fees.

Mail Registration:
input registrations into database; track registration and generate reports (requires regular access to a computer and printer and good database skills).

Camp Goods and Services:
sell SCDC themed items like shirts and organize goods being sold by other vendors; coordinate services being offered (e.g. bodywork, dream analysis, Tarot readings)

Food:
plan meals, shop for food, and prepare food for events when SCDC provides meals; research, hire and coordinate catered food options; coordinate kitchen work-study.

Childcare:
develop a program that integrates kids into our events where appropriate and provides them their own actives when not; coordinate childcare staff before event and onsite; coordinate childcare work-study; act as liaison with parents and with food committee about kids' food; coordinate childcare staff before event and on-site.

Space Design Committee:
obtain materials for beautifying our public spaces; develop themes and designs; create and install art, hang textiles, etc.; create event lighting design, place and setup lights; make sure lighting is safe and simple to control and adjust.

WISH: (Warmth, information. Sharing and Heart/Hugs/Health):
coordinate opening and closing circles and provide on-site help for attendees, including parking, signs, set-up, first aid, lost and found, etc.,

Teachers & Event Choreography:
coordinate with WISH to schedule the daily activities and choreograph the event; assure that classes complement each other; gently guide our activities to they move along at an engaging pace, like a novel that you can't put down; research and recommend teachers; negotiate contracts; encourage teachers to be full participants in the events in which they teach.

Sound:
obtain, set up, and run sound equipment for nightly dance jams and for daily classes; coordinate (on and off site) with DJ committee and with teachers; train people to operate equipment: research locations for power and acoustics; research noise issues with our neighbors.

DJ:
recruit and audition DJs for our evening jams; assure that DJs have enough material to fill their allotted time slots. Choreograph and schedule DJ time slots. The music can mellow as the evening wears on, but for the first three hours, the music should be joyful, high energy, and keep everyone dancing.

Transportation Coordinator:
receive info from registrar about rides needed and offered; coordinate info from other committees about supplies/equipment transportation needs.

Housing Coordinator:
receive information from registrar, make calls necessary to set up housing for out-of-towners during a commuter event.

Site/Space Liaison:
act as coordinator between SCDC and the event site regarding space needs, maintenance food, lodging, camping, etc.

Budget:
plan costs/expenses and work with all the other committees; monitor income versus expenses; coordinate with Business & Finance.
