SCDC ONLINE COMMUNITY
*** get involved on the SCDC Discussion Mails ***
Email List Etiquette
Many discussions of Southern California Dance Collective takes place on the SCDC mailing list, an automated discussion email list. All are welcome to join.
SCDC is what happens based on its members' vision, ideas, sweat, and
love. That means there's lots of thought and work to be done before SCDC
events so that we can dance and enjoy it once we get there. The best way
to get involved is to join in the conversations that are happening now.
The mailing list was established for SCDC people to communicate. You're
welcome to join!
The SCDC Discussion List
This is the list for discussion for SCDC events, but is also a place to
talk about all sorts of things (General dance events, parties, Birthdays,
feelings, needing help, experiences, new music, etc.) and generally socialize.
Send an e-mail to SCDC-Subscribe@topica.com
Our mailing list is hosted on Topica mailing list service. You can send
an e-mail to the address above to sign up. The subscription e-mail is
received by a machine which ignores anything you write... so it can just
be a blank e-mail. (Topica will sent you a conformation email, you MUST
reply to this to make it official.)
The SCDC "Just Official" Announcement
List
Note if you just want to get occasional "official" SCDC email
announcements, go here. This
is for people who would like to know about what we are doing, but do not
want to know about everything else. Whenever we have an event that we
know about enough ahead of time, we try to post it to this list so that
people who aren't listening to the other list can get a heads-up to what's
happening of events and gatherings.
Discussion lists enable subscribers to interact
and share information about a specific topic. In an open discussion list,
people who are interested in the topic ÒsubscribeÓ to the list, then sending
email to the list address automatically forwards it to all the subscribers
on the list.
Email lists have been active since about 1975,
and discussion lists were actually the first and original type of online
community. Internet "experts" consider email lists to be the
most civilized type of online community, as this format generally lends
itself to calm, thoughtful, literate, mature discussion.
Email list etiquette will make the experience much better for everyone
here including yourself. Please
follow these guidelines.
